April 14th, 2022 – After a successful canvas auction for the Calgary Stampede Cowboys Rangeland Derby on Tuesday night, the professional chuckwagon drivers tried their luck in Grande Prairie, Alberta for the Grande Prairie Stompede which will run May 25-29, 2022
Once again prime advertising space on the chuckwagons of 38 of the best chuckwagon drivers in the world today from the World Professional Chuckwagon Association, was put up for auction Thursday, bringing in a total $371,050.00. Seventeen drivers eclipsed the $10,000.00 mark for the show that will kick off the 2022 race season.
2010 Grande Prairie Stompede Champion Rae Croteau Jr. has come out of retirement and was the sale topper with the high bid of $26,000.00 from Kaidak Energy Services. The low bid for the sale was $5,000.00 for five different drivers, while the average bid came in at $9,764.47 for the five day show in May.
The final chuckwagon canvas sale for the year will be for Ponoka Stampede on May 6, 2022.Billy Melville
