2022 Battle of the North – Dawson Creek, British Columbia

The final 4 that will compete in Sunday’s sudden death championship final heat where the winner will take home the 2022 Battle of the North Championship has now been set. Chanse Vigen driving Cody Ridsdale’s wagon, Kurt Bensmiller, Obrey Motowylo and Layne MacGillivray will battle it out for the 2022 championship of Dawson Creek, British Columbia.
Chanse Vigen drove injured driver Cody Ridsdale’s Jeff & Julie DeSutter/Kendal Farms/Nordic Energy Canada Corp. outfit to a first place overall aggregate finish after posting the best 4-day aggregate time of 4:58.89. Kurt Bensmiller qualified in 2nd place overall 2.36 seconds behind the Ridsdale wagon, with defending Battle of the North Champion Obrey Motowylo qualifying in 3rd place overall, and Layne MacGillivray holding onto 4th place overall to grab the final spot in Sunday’s final. Roger Moore made a big jump from 9th at the start of the day into 5th place overall, and narrowly missed a spot in Sunday’s final by 30 one-hundreds of a second.
As far as the day results go, Chanse Vigen drove Cody Ridsdale’s wagon , to the top time of the night and the week so far with a run of 1:13.59 from barrel number 1 in the 4th heat. Day 3 winner Chad Fike had another strong run and placed second overall on the night, 97 one-hundredths of a second behind the day winner Chanse Vigen. Roger Moore, Kurt Bensmiller and Darcy Flad rounded out the top five runs on the evening.
The finals of the Battle of the North Championship from Dawson Creek, British Columbia for the Battle of the North can be heard live on Sunday, August 14, 2022 on WPCA Radio at 9:30pm Eastern, 8:30pm Central, and 7:30pm Mountain time on Real Country 910, as well as seen live on the Cowboy Channel + App streaming platform.
