2022 Century Downs “Winners’ Zone” Championship – Night 3 Results

It was an eventful night three at the Century Downs World Chuckwagon Finals in Rocky View, Alberta. With over $300,000.00 in cash and prized on the line over the 5-day event, hearts are pounding as 12 drivers are trying to make the Century Downs “Winners’ Zone” Championship Final on Sunday afternoon. When the night wrapped up, Kris Molle has now taken the lead in the Century Downs “Winners’ Zone” Playoff Round.

After three solid runs, Molle finds himself in first place in the Century Downs “Winners’ Zone” Championship Playoff round with 29 playoff points. That puts him 4 points ahead of Chad Fike who sits alone in second place. Ross Knight moved up into to third place overall, while Chanse Vigen, has now also moved up and sits in fourth place overall. Obrey Motowylo and Doug Irvine are tied for fifth overall, just three points behind Chanse Vigen for the final spot in Sunday’s Century Downs “Winners’ Zone” Championship Dash where they will be racing for $75,000.00 cash and the prestige of being recognized as the inaugural Century Downs “Winners’ Zone” Champion.

On the night, Chanse Vigen’s Volker Stevin/Glover International Trucks outfit posted a 1:22.92 from barrel 2 in heat number 7. That was 27 one-hundredths of a second faster than Codey McCurrach who placed second overall on the night. Kris Molle placed third, Mitch Sutherland was fourth, with Ross Knight filling out the top five on the night.

For the 36 drivers who are racing for the Aggregate Championship at the Century Downs World Chuckwagon Finals, Kris Molle now leads the overall aggregate standing with a three-run total of 4:12.96. That puts him 1.73 seconds ahead of Mitch Sutherland, with Ross Knight, Chance Bensmiller and Chad Fike filling out the top five. The driver posting the best 4-day aggregate time after Saturday’s run will be the Century Downs Racetrack and Casino Aggregate Winner

In the race for the World Chuckwagon Championship, Layne MacGillivray is one step closer to winning his first career World Chuckwagon Championship. With just one run to go, MacGillivray now has a nearly insurmountable 94-point lead over reigning World Champion Obrey Motowylo, with 4-time World Champion Kurt Bensmiller another seven points behind Motowylo in the chase for the World Chuckwagon Championship. The World Champion will be declared after Saturday’s run.
