WRA Finals Round One Results

The 2013 WRA Challenge Finals kicked off Thursday night at the Barrhead Arena. Competitors will battle it out over five rounds, with point system for each go round, and on the average.

Cole Goodine, fresh off a LRA Championship, led the way in the bareback on night one. He was 78 points on the Big Country Rodeo horse “Easy Money”.

Calf Roping winner was Two Time WRA Champion Bill Melaney with a 8.1 second run.

The bulldoggers were posting some great times Thursday night, but it was Glen Allen Nash who prevailed with a 4.2 second run.

In the Ladies Barrel racing, Sonda Marks edged out season leader Val Frey with a 14.053 to win the 60 points.

In the Saddlebronc, it was Big Valley cowboy Wyatt Thurston who took a re ride on Big Country’s “Fools Gold” and put up a 73 pt ride for the win.

Team roping had two teams stretch one out in 5.7, as Daryn/Dylan Knapp & Murdock Keith/Kody Potts earned 55 championship points.

The Bullriding had 5 qualified rides on night one. Medicine Hat cowboy Tristan Carlier prevailed after a 78pt ride on Todd’s Grey from the Trach Rodeo Co.

The Junior and Novice events ended up like this: Jr.Bulls- Austin Nash 78pts, Breakaway- Dillon Graham/Blayde Melaney 2.8, Jr.Steers- Gunnar Fuchs 73.5 pts, Novice Horse- Ryley Borris 67.5pts, Jr.Barrels- Leanne Frey 14.409, PeeWee Barrels- Tori Graham 14.587
