What’s That Bull with Ted Stovin for Day One of the Wanham, AB PBR Invitational
Wanham, AB: Last year, Kyle Lozier won $20,000 in a bounty ride off match up against Vold’s VJV Slash. This year, 2013, someone else will have a chance at VJV Slash. The bonus? A $10,000 check for a successful ride on Saturday Night. Same as last year, the format is as follows. Riders are entered both days and may re-enter as well. The man with the highest combined total from a single entry on two head will get the shot at the bonus bull.
In addition, there is $15,000 in added prize money up for grabs between the two days. Professional Bull Riding action gets underway at 7:30pm both Friday and Saturday, June 14th and 15th at the Wanham Sports Grounds.
For those of you who don’t know, Wanham is about an hour North East of Grande Prairie, or an hour North West of Valleyview in the middle of the farmlands of the Peace Country. Tickets are available at the gate but get there early as the best seats fill up fast.
As per usual, these are my picks on a few of the top match-ups to watch out for on Friday Evening.
The Wanham PBR Invitational is Stop Four of the 2013 SIGA 3D Bullriding Tour.
Ty Elliot vs. Lost Wages – “Ty Elliot rides way too good for a tame pinto like this to slip through his fingers.” As said by Skyler McBride on the way to tonight’s Canadian Classic Production Sale in Innisfail, AB. McBride went on to say “He’s gonna spin either way and Ty is going to win fourth.” I’m going to agree with Skyler here for the most part and say Ty will ride Lost Wages and not make a liar out of me.
Ty’s ride will likely look a lot like this ride of Aaron Roy’s from last year in Wanham.
Scott Schiffner vs. Iron Man – Scott Schiffner has been hitting a lot of home runs lately and Iron Man should be another pitch down the middle for him. This Bull comes from James Morton and actually left Schiffner in the dirt last July in Manor. I don’t think the same will happen on Friday. I’m betting on a round win here in the mid to high 80’s.
Brian Hervey vs. Danger Ranger – Brian has been consistently winning as of late and should sure like this bull of Josh and Tammy Berezay’s. I seem to write about Danger Ranger every week since he’s pretty rider friendly. I’m betting on an 85 with a couple points awarded to Hervey’s spurs.
Tyler Pankewitz vs. Ram Rod – 85 points. That’s that.
Josh Birks vs. Turn Me Down – Turn Me Down is a big yellow muley that also looks pretty rider friendly. He goes to the right about every time, unless it’s with Scott Schiffner on his back. So here, Josh will likely spur this bull away from his hand for an 84 or so.
Ty Pozzobon got that exact score in Prince Albert in early May.
