PONOKA, Alberta — Oklahoma State University team mates Garrett Smith and Clay Elliot battled it out for the title of Canada’s Ultimate Cowboy Championship tonight at the Calnash Ag Event Center with Elliot prevailing for the $4,000 first place check.
Smith finished second by 30 championship points but still took home $3,000 in winnings.
Third went to Ty Ellis for $2,000 while Travis Reay and Logan Hodson split fifth for $500 each.
Kyle Bowers took the Bareback with an 85 on C5 Rodeo’s Rock and Roll to win $1,000.
Logan Hodson was 81.5 on Frank Wyzykoski’s Easy Money to be the top Ultimate Cowboy qualifier.
In the Timed Event Showdown, Baillie Milan won the Tie Down with a 9.6, Clay Elliot was the top Ultimate Cowboy. Milan may have only been 8.6 in the Steer Wrestling but came out the top man in the Timed Event Challenge for $1,000.
Clay Elliot made a great move with a win in the Saddle Bronc, he was 80 points to move to 110 points, 30 ahead of Garrett Smith moving onto the Steer Wrestling, then with only two events remaining
Ty Ellis won the Steer Wrestling with a 6.7 second time. He then moved to 30 points behind Clay Elliot in a tie with Garrett Smith with one event remaining.
Shannon Leguerrier won the Barrel Masters competition with 77.112 on five runs and had the quickest time which was a 14.223 for the top check the Bull Riding, Jesse Torkeson won the $1,000.
