Two-time Champion Brings Bull Riding to Hometown

First Annual Chad Besplug Invitational Bull Riding in Claresholm, AB

CLARESHOLM, Alberta — Two-time Canadian Champion Bull Rider Chad Besplug is bringing a Canadian Professional Rodeo Association (CPRA) bull riding event to his hometown.

The inaugural Chad Besplug Invitational Bull Riding is set for 7 p.m. March 8 at the Claresholm Agriplex. The $20 advance tickets will be available beginning Jan. 15 at Cowboy Country Western Weat in Nanton and the Frontier Western in Claresholm or for $25 at the door. Children 12 and younger are free.

The First Annual Chad Besplug Invitational Bull riding will feature some of the CPRA’s top bull riders vying for $10,000 in added prize money, and a Troy Fischer trophy buckle, aboard the top bulls in our nation.

Hosting an event of this caliber has been on Besplug’s to-do-list for a while. He hopes to bring his hometown together to share in his love and talent for bull riding

“It’s something I’ve always wanted to do as there aren’t many events of this caliber in Claresholm,” Besplug said. “I want to have a quality event that will hopefully bring people together in our community.”

The event will showcase stock from Big Stone Rodeo Company, Two Bit Bucking Bulls, Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls, Franklin Rodeo Company, Girletz Rodeo Stock and Rafter G Bucking Bulls. CFR Bull Fighters Brett Monea and Scott Byrne along with local bullfighter Cody Hunt will protect the 30 men on Saturday night.

Besplug wants fans to know this won’t be the same as a normal Sunday afternoon rodeo.

“The atmosphere is going to be electric, full of rock and roll and excitement. I’m looking forward to a great event.”

A replay screen from Feature Production of Lethbridge, and CFR Announcers Brett Gardiner and Dave Poulsen are sure to enhance the experience for all.
