Showdown in Claresholm: Champs Face-off at Besplug Invitational

CLARESHOLM, Alberta — 2013 Canadian Bull Riding Champion Chad Besplug will face 2013 Bull of the Canadian Finals Rodeo, Pop Evil in a Charity Grudge Match at the end of Besplug’s namesake event on March 8th, 2014.

It was Besplug’s idea to promote the match-up which will raise money for the Willow Creek Benevolent Fund.

“Ya, we wanted to do something big,” Besplug said. “He bucked me off this year in Innisfail, he was my first bull back but I think I’ll get him this time.”

The following format for the grudge match will be used:

A $20 ticket may be purchased for Besplug or Pop Evil when the doors open at 5pm up until the gate opens on Saturday, March 8th.

If Besplug rides Pop Evil,  tickets “for Chad Besplug” will be drawn for 50% of the money in the draw with the other 50% going to charity.

If Pop Evil bucks Besplug off, those who bought a ticket “for Pop Evil” will be drawn from for the same 50% of the prize money with the other half going to charity.

Neither Chad Besplug or the stock contractor bringing Pop Evil, Big Stone Rodeo Co. will earn anything from the match; both wanted to come up with a unique format to help raise more money for charity.
