Cochrane, AB: David and Laurie McDonald of MX Ranch came out on top with their three head of bucking horses at the Second Annual Foothills Bucking Horse Futurity organized by long time stock contractor Jimmy Richards of Richards Rodeo.
McDonald’s three horses, Crop Dust, Storm Cloud and Señora scored 83, 75 and 85 respectively to win the overall title, a championship halter and $4,800 by nine points overall.
In the coin toss, Jeff and Stephanie Yule were awarded the top horse halter made by Billy Richards for their horse Thunderstruck who also placed high last year.
Justin Twogood came in second place with 234 points on his three head in his first team for $3,800.
Darcy Hollingsworth and Jeff Yule tied for third and fourth to each win $1,800 with their 228 points on three head.
In the bronc riding side of the competition, Connor Reinhart won both rounds with scores of 72 and 74.5. He won $500 as a bonus in each round along with another $1,245 in the average. Not a bad Thursday Night in Cochrane.
Kain Loof was second with 141.5 on two for $930 while Jake Watson finished third for a $620 check and Carl Green rounded out the top four taking home $310.
