Coutts, AB: This Afternoon’s Duty Free Border Town Show Down took place on the Border of Canada and the United States at the Coutts Grass Rodeo Grounds. Another border was involved as Sonora, Mexico’s Edgar Durazo was the only bull rider to get scores on both his bulls and won the event produced by Josh and Tamara Berezay of Two Bit Bucking Bulls.
Sanctioned by Bull Riders Canada, the Coutts and Arrowwood Committees have teamed up to award a saddle to the high point winner of the two events. Thus far, Mexico is in the lead.
In the long go it was an 82 on Bar UT’s Cat Boogie. Edgar was the only man to get a score in the Short Go.
Durazo takes home $4,227.50 for his efforts this afternoon along with a brand new trophy buckle courtesy of Duty Free.
Zane Lambert came in second on the day after a re-ride on Flying High’s Hippy Tricks which won him the Long Go at 83.5 points. Lambert was bucked off the Two Bit PBR World Finals Bull, Bucking Fantastic in the Short Go near the whistle. Adding $1,140.00 to his season earnings in the BRC, Zane moves to third in the standings with only six events left on the schedule.
Sangudo Native and current Ponoka renter Jerett Nash picked up $855 this afternoon for a solid 82.5 point ride on Prescott’s Fresh Prince after what looked like quite a decent wreck earlier. Nash opted to take the same bull back again and it worked out to his advantage.
In fourth, Tristan Carlier of Medicine Hat, AB picked up some points and a bit of cash for his 82 on this Rafter G Bull of Arrowwood, AB.
Rounding out the top five was Jerett Nash’s landlord, Tyler Pankewitz who didn’t win any money but did get himself some points.
In my opinion the biggest effort of the day goes to Dan Hansen on the Flying High Bull Burn it to the Ground in the Short Go.
A close second goes to Cawl Braithwaite on the Prescott Bull 923 Little Guns.
