WPRA Barrel Racer and 2013 Jerry Ann Taylor Best Dressed Barrel Racer Award Winner, Fallon Taylor heads up what I’m referring to as the Decked Out Denim trend. Her fashion line Ranch Dress’n offers a variety of jeans in a rainbow of colors, adorned with rhinestones, arrows, feathers, dream catchers and so much more.

Though it’s not the first time we’ve seen colored denim, “old school is the new cool”. Red and royal blue are common colors carried by Wrangler, Cruel Girl and Tin Haul and can easily be picked up at your local western retailer. The current trend showcases brighter colors like cranberry and turquoises.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a trend if Fallon was the only one sporting! Rodeo Queens including 2013 Miss Rodeo America, Chenae Shiner have sported painted or leather overlaid jeans. The 2014 Miss Rodeo America contestants were challenged to create their own “decked out denim” pieces as part of their pageant. They had their choice of a dress, denim jacket or jeans to emblazon at their own discretion. You can check out their creations on the Miss Rodeo America Facebook page. Of course we can’t forget Miss Rodeo Canada 2014, Nicole Briggs, who’s been spotted wearing a denim vest or two.

Miss Me Rainbow Colored Jeans

As always main stream fashion offers up it’s own version of deck out denim, like denim shirts embellished with tribal prints and rhinestones, vests and jackets in a variety of cuts and colors to complete any wardrobe. Miss Me Jeans calls themselves “The Original Embellished Denim” and it’s safe to label them as the go-to for jeans with rhinestones, studs and designs.

Ranch Dress’n Tie Dye Jeans

Not sure where to start or if you can pull of the fashion trend. Reds or blues are a safe bet and pair well with white, black or chambrey shirts. Feeling brave or have an itch for a Do-It-Yourself project? Pick up some white jeans and tie-dye them at home. Combine your own favorite colors and the best part is the messier the better!
