Birks Spurs Slash for Highest Score of the Year – Number Three #EC12of12

Drayton Valley, AB: If we were going off the highest scores of the year or the best rides, Josh Birks spurring Slash in the neck for a 92.5 would be number one for sure. By making this countdown the biggest moments of the year it allows for a bit of different judgement. Hopefully next year it’ll be that much bigger with even more footage to go off of.

Coming back to Josh and Slash, the ride took place in Stavely, AB at the Glen Keeley Memorial Bull Riding. That event has got the most outstanding atmosphere for a bull riding than any other I’ve ever been to. The past two years have been probably the most exciting and best events I’ve witnessed. I don’t think anything can top Tanner Girletz’s win in 2011. If you feel like going back in time a bit there, here’s the link to the story.

Not taking anything away from Josh, but that was cool. There are probably a ton more big moments like that over the nine years of the event. I’d like to know where this ride of Birks’ ranks in the all time list of top rides? It’s got to be up there if it’s not the top. As you can see, he sure put on a show that evening.

It wasn’t just on September 1st that Josh Birks was winning in Canada either. The Australian Cowboy racked up win after win in 2012 cashing in for a pile of money. His best season ever as he said on Facebook not long ago, look out for him again in 2013 and probably up in the PBR’s Built Ford Tough series not too long from now either.

That’s it for number three on the countdown. A big shout out has to go to VJV Slash for already being in this countdown at least three times now. Duane Robinson and Nansen Vold sure raised a legend there. I’m headed to Slash’s hometown tonight too for the next few days for the Ponoka Rodeo Masters Events. Tonight it’s the Roughstock Futurity at 7:00pm followed by Canada’s Ultimate Cowgirl tomorrow night and Canada’s Ultimate Cowboy on New Years Eve!

See you in Ponoka.
