#7: Champion Earns $1.1 million at The American

ARLINGTON, Texas — Number seven on the Everything Cowboy Biggest Moments of 2014 countdown brought to you by 3D Bull Riding Inc. is Richmond Champion’s million-dollar Sunday thanks to RFD-TV’s The American.

On March 2nd, 2014 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX 21 year-old Richmond Champion won the bareback riding, as one of the events qualifiers, which paid him $1.1 million in one single day. The American was and will once again in 2015 be the richest one day rodeo.

In 2105 overall The American will be the second highest paying rodeo in our entire sport next only to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. Third to fifth on the list? The Calgary Stampede, Rodeo Houston and the Canadian Finals Rodeo based on total prize money paid to contestants.

One of the unique parts about The American is it’s still anyone’s game. A person can still enter a qualifier and potentially win the million dollar prize, if no one wins, the top contestants in the world take home even more of their share of the over $2 million in prize money.
