Cochrane, AB: Canada’s top bucking horse prospects are all headed to the Cochrane tonight for the Second Annual Foothills Bucking Horse Futurity. An event hosted by Jimmy Richards which had successful beginnings. “It went really well. The weather was great and lots of people came to watch.” Jimmy commented.
$5,000 in added money is up tonight for the horses while each of the contractors pay an entry fee of $650 for their team of three horses. About $4,000 was paid to the winning team last year along with a championship halter. Another halter is given to the top marked horse.
“It’s a place to showcase the animals.” Richards added. “The crowd liked it, they could cheer for the horses rather than against the cowboy.”
$2,000 is added for the bronc riders. They have $100 entry fees that are all paid back out along with a buckle for the winner. Last year, last minute CFR qualifier Lane Watt won the most money while Dustin Sippola won the buckle for being the only man to ride both broncs.
Stock tonight features bucking horses from Richards Rodeo, Lawrence Pengelly, Midnight Rodeo, Jeff McKay/Rod Hay, Darcy Hollingsworth, Justin Twogood, Ben Lowry and the McDonald’s.
See you in downtown Cochrane tonight for the show starting at 6:00pm.
