The third stop on the WPCA Pro Tour is in the books as the finals of the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede wrapped up on Sunday afternoon on a fantastic racetrack and a classic championship final heat that featured Kurt Bensmiller, Vern Nolin and John Walters. When the dust finally settled, it was Kurt Bensmiller, driving the Versatile Energy Services Ltd. outfit, and along with outriders Rory Gervais and Cole Somerville who captured the 2019 Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede Championship.
From barrel position number one in a penalty free championship final heat number 12, Bensmiller posted a fast run of 1:02.30 and beat out Vern Nolin who selected barrel number three, by a large margin of 1.22 seconds, with John Walters placing third from barrel number two. It’s the first time Kurt Bensmiller has won the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede championship.
On the night, Kurt Bensmiller’s championship run of 1:02.30 was good for top money for the day by 32 one-hundreds of a second over Obrey Motowylo, with Chance Flad, Jason Glass and Luke Tournier making out the top five fastest wagons on the afternoon.
The WPCA Pro Tour presented now moves onto Guy Weadick Days starting on Thursday June 20, 2019 and running and running through to Sunday, June 23, 2019.
