WPCA Pro Tour – 2019 Guy Weadick Days Day One Results – High River, Alberta

After a successful run in Medicine Hat, the WPCA Pro Tour rolled into High River for the running of Guy Weadick Days where Kurt Bensmiller came into this year’s event as the two-time defending champion. It was a cool night for chuckwagon races, but that didn’t seem to diminish the enthusiasm of the High River fans. When the night concluded, it was Doug Irvine who bested the field after a run of 1:18.94 even with a one second outrider penalty.
Coming off barrel number 4 in the 5th heat of the evening, Irvine, driving the Quantum Downhole Systems outfit, posted the top time of the night and placed first overall for the day by just 3 one-hundredths of a second over Kirk Sutherland. Cody Ridsdale was third, Kelly Morin, who also had a one second outrider penalty placed fourth, and Mitch Sutherland rounded the top five on night.
The driver posting the best 4-day aggregate time after Sunday’s run will be declared the champion of the 2019 Guy Weadick Days Championship.
