Wacey’s Picks – North Battleford PBR

NORTH BATTLEFORD, Saskatchewan – I hope everyone is enjoying the onslaught of picks I’ve been throwing at you lately, I know I’ve really liked writing them. The next stop on the PBR Canada Touring Pro schedule brings us Northern Saskatchewan for the North Battleford PBR.

An always-great event this years edition features a stacked list of some of Canada’s and World’s best bull riders. Along with the outstanding talent on the rider side of things, this event also features some of the best four-legged talent in the nation. In addition to the PBR action nine of the top junior bull riders will be featured during the intermission for some added excitement.

Bull riding action begins at 7:00 pm in the North Batleford Civic Centre, and tickets are available at Austin’s Saddlery. For further information check out their Facebook page by clicking here.

Below are some of my key matchups to watch for tonight:

Dakota Buttar vs. 436 Devour

Dakota has won the PBR’s Glen Keeley Award (awarded to the top Canadian in the PBR World Standings) the past two seasons, and for good reason. Dakota is one of the best bull riders to ever come out of Canada in the last while, and when healthy he is extremely tough to get on the ground. He has drawn a great bull here, Devour is big grey bull that comes from Nansen Vold and could be a home run for Dakota. Devour has been rode for 89.00 and 88.00 points over his past two outs by Todd Chotowetz and Aaron Kleier, so safe to say Dakota has a great opportunity here. Devour will turn back to the right away from Dakota’s hand and if he can get by him he could vault himself right to the top of the leader board.

Jared Parsonage vs. 324 Finning Overhaul

If you’ve had a chance to check out fearless leader Ted Stovin’s article on Jared (if not click here) you know the current PBR Canada No. 1 gun is committed to winning his first Canadian Title and he has no plans to slow down. Jared will be continuing his quest tonight in North Battleford where he will face off with Finning Overhaul from the Flying Four Bucking Bulls crew. Overhaul is a really solid draw, he hop out a few jumps and turn back to the right. Zane Lambert took Overhaul to 83.50 points earlier this season at the Monster Energy Tour event in Winnipeg, Manitoba, I would watch for the same kind of score here.

Todd Chotowetz vs. 51 Smash

Todd is putting together his best season to date at the PBR Canada level, currently sitting No. 6 in the National Standings Todd will be looking to get closer to the No. 1 position here in North Battleford. Todd has a great draw tonight, Smash comes from the Skori family and has been a solid bull in their pen for a long time now. Samsh usually turns back to the right which right in to Toddy’s wheelhouse, when guys get by this bull the scores are usually between that 82.00-to-85.00 range. If Todd brings his A-game we will definitely see him back for the Championship Round.

Tim Lipsett vs. 529 Catch of the Day

It is good to see ol’ Timmy back on the road, the Pilot Butte, Saskatchewan product has been a staple on the PBR Canada scene so seeing his name in draw is great.  When Tim is firing on all cylinders he is one of the best going, lets hope tonight will be start of Timmy finding his form again. He has the perfect draw here to do just that, Catch of the Day is a really cool bull that comes from the Wild Hoggs team. Dakota Buttar was 87.50 points on this bull in Falher, Alberta back in June and if Tim can get by him we should see the same kind of score this time around.
