Sao Jose Do Rio Preto, SP Brazil

So this past week from February 7th to 11th I made a quick trip to Brazil. Monday Morning at 5:00am I got a call from my friend Dici Birtche telling me my flights were now booked and I needed to be on a plane at 11:00am. The reason of the trip was to go to a meeting for the press for the upcoming Rio Preto Rodeo Show. I was there representing the International Pro Rodeo Association (IPR) on behalf of the Board of Directors who include John Osbourne, Dale Leschuitta, Steve Hilton, Dici Birtche, Dinho Birtche and also Jim Ivory. It took place at the Villa Conte in Sao Jose Do Rio Preto, SP. It was a very nice venue as you can see from the picture to the right.

The meeting went well. I was able to meet many new people who are a big part of the rodeo scene in Brazil. I answered questions for many different people from the media including an interview for a National TV Program. I was proud to represent the IPR in this fashion and have recently been appointed to the position of the Cowboy’s Director for North America. I look forward to working with Dici and everyone else involved with the IPR. They are all great people.

The Rio Preto Rodeo Show will have contestants from 5 different countries in all of the major rodeo events. It is set to take place April 6 to the 10th. According to Dale Leschuitta, President of the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association, 4 Time Canadian All Around Champion Steven Turner or Cochrane, Alberta is scheduled to be one of the contestants representing Canada. The rest of the roster is yet to be set but will come into place in the coming weeks.

The IPR has access to the top rodeo contestants of the world and will bring them to the Rio Preto Rodeo Show. It is set to be a great event. Look for posts in the future with video from last year’s Rodeo and more information about who will be competing this year along with more information about the event.
