Buck Lake, Alberta’s Ty Patten came out on top at last night’s Rod Wilson Memorial Bull Riding. This year marked the 4th edition of this great event. The past champions so far have been:
- 2008 Aaron Roy
- 2009 Aaron Roy
- 2010 Kyle French
And now:
- 2011 Ty Patten
Ty rode the Rick Siegel Bucking bull Holy Rollin’ to the tune of 84 points to win the Long Round. It all came down to the last ride after Jesse Torkelson and Beau Brooks both made qualified rides in the short round. Patten was matched up against the Wild Hoggs Bull 58 Back on Track Well Tex AKA Whippersnapper.
The crowd awaited the action. Whippersnapper jumped out and turned back to the left and Ty rode him easy. After about the second round I think most knew he would be there the whole way. When the buzzer rang the scores came in at 88 points. For a two bull total of 172 points and 40% of the Prize money too which added up to over $1700.
