Six Canadian cowboys, including the Cassidy brothers from Donalda, Alta., — Curtis and Cody — have advanced to the semifinals of the $1.2 million San Antonio rodeo.

The semifinals start tonight and bring together the top 20 money winners in each event from the opening elimination rounds.

The Cassidys each earned $1,965. Curtis will compete in the opening 10-man, two-round steer wrestling semifinal beginning tonight and Cody will work the second, which starts Thursday.

The five leading money winners in each event after each semifinal advance to the 10-man Saturday night final.

The money won in each stage is carried over to determine the event champions.
