CALGARY, Alberta — The final two weeks of competition in the 2015 races to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo are underway and things are getting quite interesting.
Levi Simpson and Jeremy Buhler picked up a check worth $1,936 for a split of fourth in the first round in Pendleton. The team remain in the top 20 in the PRCA but outside of the top 15 by about $10,000 and $8,000 respectively. They rope their second steer today on the grass.
Yesterday’s Canadian bronc riders and bucking horses showed up big. Tyrel Larsen, currently 16th in the world by a mere $862, leads all bronc riders in the first round of the Round Up. His 83 point effort came on the back of Bar Star from the Outlawbuckers. Fellow Canuck Clay Elliot sits second so far with an 82 needing bad to win some money and get in the top 15. Elliot is 19th as or this morning trailing by over $7,000.
Both R.C. Landingham and Richmond Champion lead the first round of the bareback after matching 82’s on a pair of Outlawbuckers horses.
Bull rider Jared Parsonage leads the first round in Pendleton after an 82 in the first performance on Wednesday afternoon. Fellow Canadians Kyle Lucas and Scott Guenthner are placing in the second round of the tie down and steer wrestling.
Luke Creasy is around $20,000 back from 15th in the ever-bar-raising bareback riding. Luckily he’s currently winning in Abeline, TX; placing fourth in Pasadena, TX and third so far in Albuquerque, NM.
