OMAHA, Nebraska — Bronc rider Tyrel Larsen of Inglis, Manitoba has been frightfully close to qualifying for the Wrangler NFR years past. 2015 however may be his year.

Larsen earned an important check worth $1,276 in Omaha tonight at the Justin Boots Championships for splitting fourth in the round. Once added to the standings it would bump him past Chad Ferley into the 15th and final spot for Vegas. With two days to go, it’s not over yet but it’s advantage Manitoba as he also sits third so far in Kansas City, MO.

Tyrel’s brother Orin added another $1,168 to his season to hold steady in 11th overall in the PRCA. Orin split fifth in the round in Omaha with number 13 man Clint Laye. Clay Elliott also earned a check in Omaha, splitting fourth with Tyrel Larsen for $1,276. Elliott remains a few thousand back of Larsen for the 15th spot.

Deb Guelly earned $831 for a split of sixth in the first round in Omaha. It cancelled itself out though basically as the number 15 lady in the WPRA earned the same check. Luckily for Guelly she leads Amarillo, TX still with one performance to go there. She also sits second in Kansas City but Layna Kight, that lady holding down the last spot is fourth there too.

Luke Creasy’s chances at Vegas may be shot but he’s splitting fifth in KC thus far. Fellow bareback rider Linden Woods holds down third in Stephenville, TX and is fifth still in Amarillo. Zeke Thurston holds down second on the Texas panhandle as well.
