TACOMA, Washington — Tanner Byrne went to his first PBR Built Ford Tough Series event of 2014 last weekend in Phoenix and finished second, winning himself over $16,000 in prize money. That event was just his second at the BFTS level. This week in Tacoma at the Passport Invitational, he’s done it again.
Byrne tied for second three ways in Tacoma with 251.25 points on three head. With that he picks up 676.25 points counting towards the world standings which moves him up into 19th place overall. It’ll likely be a joke between the two but fellow Canadian, Ty Pozzobon is 20th but he’s been on tour all year. Byrne has only been two two events but he’s rode all six bulls he’s been on.
Cody Lambert even said he thought Tanner would be around a long time with his consistency in a recent article by Keith Ryan Cartwright.
I don’t know the stat but I don’t think many riders come onto the BFTS on a six-ride streak worth of scores, especially when they’ve only been to three events in their entire career. The youngest of the Byrne brothers is the only man in the world standings to currently have a 100% riding percentage. He added $13,320 to his pocket book this weekend as well moving his season total up to $44.124.49.
Pozzzobon was shut out on the weekend and the event win went to Cody Nance.
