Mauney Cliches First PBR World Championship

LAS VEGAS, Nevada — J.B. Mauney is your 2013 PBR World Champion and World Finals Event Champion as he was the only man to go six for six here in Vegas.

In the end, Silvano Alves took a re-ride on his last bull but it wouldn’t be enough after that round five win, it was about over for Silvano Alves as he had to be 112.5 points to pass Mauney.

Ty Pozzobon finished 14th at the PBR World Finals and is now the fourth Canadian to make the Championship Round all time. I’ve got to make a note here to make things right as Ashton Arychuk told me I was completely wrong earlier when I said that Ty was the second to do this. Thanks for reminding me that Wade Joyal and Kelly Armstrong both had done so before. Ashton even knew the years on them as well with 1994 for Wade and 2002 for Kelly. Aaron Roy is the fourth and did so for four consecutive years.

Highlighting the finals for Canadian Stock Contractors was the fact that starting off the Championship Round, Shane Proctor rode 2013 PBR Canada Bull of the Year, Pound the Alarm for a 90 point score.

Justin Vold and I caughts up today directly after the event to talk about the painted up superstar.

Stay tuned for the ride footage as it becomes available.

Until then, there’s a ton of cool stuff coming down today on PBR.com and their Social Media pages. Check them out for more on everything about J.B.’s win.
