What’s That Bull with Ted Stovin for the Clunie – Cooper Memorial

Prince Albert, SK: On Friday and Saturday Nights at the Art Hauser Center in Prince Albert will trade in it’s ice for dirt to accommodate dirt and bulls for the Clunie-Cooper Memorial PBR.

Bull riding gets underway both nights at 7:30pm with $15,000 in prize money up for grabs.

Below is the event draw and my thoughts on some of Friday’s match-ups. If you’ve got an opinion to share, please do do in a comment below!

Tyler Thomson vs. GRS 707 Candy Man – This five year old blue bull usually pops up in the air pretty good and spins either way. It’s great to see Tyler back to what he does best after a while of being out of the game. He placed deep last weekend at a bull riding in Trail and will be looking to do so here on Friday. My money is on an 83 or 84.

Stetson Lawrence vs. HOGS 90 Chances Are – Stetson has been riding the heck out of them lately and stacking up the cash. In the past two weeks he’s won at least $11,000. That’s only at the two events I’ve seen him at too in Fort St. John, BC and New Town, ND. With this Wild Hoggs Bull he’s got, if he rides his bull in the finals it’s likely he will win more money in PA. After Brian Hervey rode this one in Marwayne last weekend I’m thinking this match-up should add up to an 84.

Zane Lambert vs. WV 806 Cold and Empty – Zane and his new bride Stacey have been off to Hawaii since their wedding. Congratulations once again. If Zane could pick a bull to get on after a week or two off, I think this might be one he would choose. 806 is a mostly black, jersey coloured bull that should fall out of right hand delivery spinning to the right, right into Zane’s hand. This bull looks pretty whippy at points, I bet that should make the score close to an 86. We will see.

Tanner Girletz vs. WV 808 Cool Valley – Prince Albert last year was the first time we saw Cool Valley last year when he threw off Scott Schiffner before most people could blink. Since then he’s been rode a few times and looks good. I think Tanner should ride this big black and white paint bull easy for an 86 and get himself a good one in the finals.

Ty Elliot vs. WV 825 Feeling Blue – Ty has been winning as of late and should like this blue horned bull. For how many times I’ve seen this one he’s turned back to the right and been real smooth. Ty should get along with this bull real well and be 85 or so.

Tanner Byrne vs. CS 703 Gingas Kong – Tanner made his return last weekend in Marwayne. I haven’t seen the video yet but when I saw him the other day at Zane and Stacey’s wedding he was pumped to get back riding. He had to come back early to be ready for his hometown event of course and he’s got to be pumped to have this bull of Calgary’s. Last time he was rode was in Vermillion in February for a 91. Not a bad one to have Tanner.

Jesse Torkelson vs. CS 105 Beaver – It’ll be good to see Beaver again after a while off. Tork should get along with this one real good. It could be the round if things go right.

Ty Tescher vs. CS 868 Everything Cowboy – Ty rode great last weekend in Marwayne and New Town winning himself some money and riding most of his bulls. The video below should make him not want to get hung up. That’s about all I’ve got to say there. Ty should ride 868 for an 84 I’m thinking.

Ty Pozzobon vs. SKRI 813 Ice Water – This is one of Pozzy’s first events in Canada in 2013. After coming in a close third in 2012 he’s going to want to win the Canadian Championship this year. His travelling partner Tanner Byrne got on this bull last week in Marwayne and it threw him off. One thing is for sure, the two will be tough to beat in the team roping jackpot on Saturday Afternoon at the Max Clunie Coliseum.
