Ponoka, AB: Canada’s Biggest Bull Riding is only a few more days away. On Monday June 24th at 6:30pm you’ll be seeing the best ever battling it out at the Ponoka Stampede Grounds for the Jace Harty Memorial Bull Riding which features $40,000 in added prize money.
30 riders are entered including the likes of two PBR World Champions, Mike Lee (2004) and Kody Lostroh (2009). Three Time Canadian Champion Aaron Roy has drawn well and $100,000 Calgary Stampede Champion, Chad Besplug is back after surgery.

Ty Elliot vs. Jackson James – Sitting 4th in the PBR Canadian standings Ty is having a strong year thus far. He’s been making some real good rides as of late that is taking him to the pay window. No reason here why he can’t keep doing the same, when he climbs aboard Jackson James. Reigning 2012 PBR Canada bucking bull of the year this is bound to be a great match up. Jackson James who is normally in the championship round, has had some time off due to being sore the last little while. The bull will be fresh and ready to go. If Ty can get around that first corner out of the chute, he has a good chance to take the round win and get himself another 90 like he did in Vermillion in February.
Chase Outlaw vs. Iron Man – Outlaw who has competing on the PBR’s BFTS tour has has some good luck up here in Canada. Just coming of a win not that long ago at the Smithbilt Hats Ty Pozzobon Invitational in Merrit,BC Chase should be able to keep the streak alive when he shows up in Ponoka. He will be matched up with another great bull that is usually in the championship round in Iron Man. This is great bull and has been for a long time. He’s getting up there in age but still has what it takes. Spins right in the gate to the left and gets stronger as the clock ticks to 8 seconds. This bull looks really good to ride, should see a high 80 point score here.
Tyler Pankewitz vs. Uncle Buck – Tyler has been picking away all year making some strong bull rides. Living in Ponoka I’m going to jump out on a limb and say he is the home town favourite. I guarantee the bull he has drawn here is the one every body wished the had. Uncle Buck just took Josh Birks to 90.5 point score in the championship round in Wanham, AB for the win. I know Pank has wanted to get on this bull for along time so he’s going to take this opportunity to do well. There’s no telling what the score might be.
Josh Birks vs Aurora – Josh is by far the hottest guy in Canada right now and is moving up the standings in a hurry. He can ride anything you throw under him and can spur like know one else I have ever seen. Josh has his hand full here though with Aurora. This little black bull is the real deal. This bull was one of the highest marked bulls in Merritt not to long ago. This will be a great match to keep your eyes on.
