What’s That Bull for the Coronation Royal Rumbull – August 21st, 2013

Coronation, AB: Wednesday Night’s are good for Bull Riding at the Royal Rumbull in Coronation. Now in it’s thirteenth year, it’s always been held mid-week in conjunction with the Coronation Fair.

This year is no exception. Sheep Riding kicks off the nights event right at 6:00 with Wild Pony Racing on during intermission.

Contrary to previous years including last year, this year’s event has been moved outside as it was in the first four years.

Professional Bull Riders (PBR) action starts at 7:00pm with 25 of the top riders in the PBR Canada and from around the world.

Tickets are available at Golby Hardware, R.E. Brigley & Sons and Coronation Fair for a price of $20.00 each.

The 2012 Champion was Aaron Roy. You can read the full recap and watch the videos here in last year’s event recap.

Tomorrow night, these are some of the match-ups to watch for. We hope to see you in those stands!

Tyler Thomson vs. Moe Banger – Tyler won the Royal Rumbull in 2011. Later that year he went on to be the PBR Canadian Champion. Moe Banger comes from Nate Gardner and is a super little white bull. From what we’ve seen lately he’s going to turn back to the left and possibly come back around to the right at about six seconds. Austin Meier rode him at the Calgary Stampede for an 87.5 this year and he’s been ridden 2/6 times according to ProBullStats.com

Tyler probably won’t like how small this bull is but that shouldn’t keep him from staying on. Chad Besplug started a great ride on Moe Banger in Ponoka but came down on the turn back.

Zane Lambert vs. Harrison Flats – Zane has rode this bull before, he won a Bull Riders Canada event in Arrowwood, AB in June with his help. Zane leads the PBR Canadian Standings as of today this is a great opportunity for him to keep building on that lead. I’m going with 84 points on the black and white horned bull of Curtis Sawyer’s.

Tyler Thomson made Harrison Flats look pretty tough in Kinsella to get an 85.

Lachlan Richardson vs. T.J. – The Xtreme Bucking Bull known as TJ can be really good sometimes and other times he can be pretty tough to get by. For Lachlan, a trip like this bull had last year in the Short Go with Brendon Clark would be ideal. Brendon passed the $1,000,000 mark in career earnings and finished second this past weekend in Tulsa, OK. Lachlan needs all the points he can get as he’s 32nd right now in the World Standings.

Nathan Schaper vs. Slingblade – Nathan should be happy with this bull from Nansen Vold. They were 89 on this bull in Fort St. John in April and could have easy been that any day of the week he’s been out since. A red horned bull, Slingblade gets real high in the air. Ridden 2/5 times according to Pro Bull Stats, I’m betting on an at least an 86 tomorrow night to make that 3 for 6 all time.

I thought Zane Lambert started a hell of a ride on this bull in Ponoka in June at the Jace Harty Memorial.

What are your picks? Are you all not picking cause I take all the best ones all the time? Let me know if you agree or don’t agree with them too!

– Jesse Torkelson spoke up and picked Billy West to finish in the top three in the Long Go in his PBR debut on Vold’s Cool Valley.
