What’s That Bull for the Border City PBR Challenge

LLOYDMINSTER, SK — One event remains in the 2013 PBR Canada Season and it goes Saturday Night starting at 7:00pm in Lloydminster, SK at the Lloydminster Exhibition for the Border City PBR Challenge.

The top bull riders in Canada along with the top bulls will go up against each other with the riders earning their share of $10,000 in added prize money. Exclusive to this event on the bull side of things you’ll see three bulls that have all been selected for the 2013 PBR World Finals. They include, True Blood, Proline Power and local superstar, Pound the Alarm. All three will be featured at the end of the evening in the Championship Round.

40 different towns thus far on the PBR Canada Season leave only Lloydminster Saturday and the PBR Canadian National Finals in Saskatoon, SK October 18th and 19th to go. This event is also the second last of the 2013 SIGA 3D Bullriding Tour for 2013 where one man will drive himself home a brand new Ford F-150 away from those Canadian National Finals.

These are my picks for the long go of competition Saturday. Take yourself a guess on who might win this event in a comment below.

Zane Lambert vs. Propper Ripped – Zane and I talked this morning about his decision to come to Lloydminster rather than go to the PBR’s Built Ford Tough Series Event in Fayetteville, NC. It was a tough choice for him to make as he’s in a spot where most people think he should probably be in North Carolina this weekend. Zane really wants to win the PBR Canadian Championship. At this point he’s nearly got it wrapped up but he’s not taking any chances.

There are 2,100 points up for grabs at the finals in Saskatoon and he’s ahead of most people by that much. Zac Peterson has the best shot but won’t be competing due to a surgery on his elbow. Chase Outlaw won’t catch him as he’s not coming to Lloydminster however if Tanner Byrne were to win big in there, he could be within reach for the finals. Zane wants to make sure he wins the year end title and that’s why he’s coming to Lloyd. Sure he would like to make the World Finals outright but he will already be going if he wins the Canadian Title. Having a cost to get to NC of about $2,000 helps the decision to stay closer to home too. A win in Lloyd still helps his cause towards going to the World Finals too.

Having a bull like Propper Ripped drawn adds to his confidence in his decision. This bull has been top notch this year taking riders to two event wins with the latest being Jesse Torkelson back in Manor. I’m betting on Zane wrapping things up in Lloyd with a long go win on this black Prescott Bull.

Tyler Thomson vs. Hippy Freak – Tyler hasn’t been to a ton of events this year but when he went he made it count. The same goes for this Saturday when he faces this Flying High Rodeo Co Bull. Jordan Hansen was the last guy to make the whistle on him and he won the event on him. Tyler should get himself about an 86 here.

Cody Coverchuk vs. Boy George – Cody made his BFTS Debut back in Tulsa in August and only got to get on one bull. To my knowledge this is his first bull back since wrecking his knee. He likely wants to get on again before the finals and sure got himself a good bull to do that on. Tanner Byrne rode Boy George in Paradise Valley back in June. That was an event Cody won that helped him to Tulsa as part of an incentive. I’m betting on an 85 here for Coverchuk.

Jordan Hansen vs. Jonah the Whale – This is a re-match from Kinsell back in July. That one didn’t work out too well for Jordan but luckily he had Brett Monea on his side to get him out of a bind. (On a side note, this past week Brett and his wife Amy are now proud parents. Congratulations to both of you!) In order for Hansen to Qualify for the finals he’s going to need to ride this bull as he’s currently sitting in the 32nd spot. As he’s already go the CFR made I think this one shouldn’t be too tough. Look for an 86 here.
