Wacey’s Picks – Nipawin, SK

NIPAWIN, Saskatchewan — Two weeks in a row with picks, that must mean summer is on the way!

This years edition of the Nipawin Rona PBR is shaping up to be a dandy, with the PBR Unleash the Beast Tour on it’s summer break, there are some big-time names in the draw.

Along with the solid list of bull riders, we also see a great set of bovine athletes this year in Nipawin. This is the perfect mixture for a great night of bull riding. So, if you are up that way get your butt down to the arena to watch some of Canada’s best bull riding action. Show time is 7:00pm at the Centennial Arena, so be sure to get there early!

Tanner Byrne vs 319 Plenty Cool

Tanner is back on Canadian soil and primed to get something done on his home turf. He has had a solid start the 2018 season and he will be looking to move further up the standings during the summer run. Tanner has drawn Plenty Cool who is originally from Lorne High’s string but is now owned by Chris Hanson of Archerwil, Sask. which is just down the road from Nipawin. This is a really cool little bull, he is really electric and looks like he should fit Tanner just right. Coy Robbins was just over 85 points on this bull at the 2017 Global Cup, look for the same type of score here.

Dakota Buttar vs +203 I Work Out

Dakota is another one of our regulars on the Unleash the Beast Tour, and he is having an outstanding season. He finds himself in the top 15 in the world and he has a good chance in Nipawin to climb even further up the ladder. He has drawn a bull from the Vold firm that I do not know much about, but from what I can see on ProBullStats he looks like a solid draw for Dakota. This is the type of bull Dakota should be able to eat up and get himself back for the championship round.

Cody Coverchuk vs 3093 Jersey Lick

Coverchuk has been a bit hot and cold to start the season so far, but I don’t think it will take long for Cody to get the ball rolling and back to his winning ways. He is matched up with Jersey Lick of the Vold string and this looks to be an awesome matchup. I have seen this bull a couple of times, he should be out a few and around to left which will fit Cody great. If Covy shows up and gets the job done we could see a big score here.

Matt Triplett vs A84 Booster Juice

Matt is coming off major shoulder surgery and will be chomping at the bit to get after it again. He had a solid showing at his first event back last week in Las Vegas which he will be able to build off here. Booster Juice comes from the Strandquist family in Kyle, SK and he has been a really solid bull for them for a long time. Booster Juice will go out and turn back either way which should be no problem for a guy like Matt. If Booster Juice has his day, and Matt can get him twisted this match-up could bring us a huge score.
