The Man in Manor – Tanner Byrne

MANOR, Saskatchewan — There was no one better than Tanner Byrne at last night’s Manor Fun Daze PBR. Byrne rode three of four bulls attempted for both first and second place and over $6,000 in earnings. Quite a bit for an event with $7,000 in added prize money.

Also wearing a contractor hat on Saturday Night, the win came on the back of a Flying Four Bucking Bull, a company in which Tanner Byrne is a part owner.

“Ya that’s a great bull we got brought up from the states this year that had actually not been ridden previously,” Tanner told of Bad Mamma Jammer who owns the top bull score of 2014 in the PBR in Canada.

Flying Four Bucking Bulls is made up of Tanner and his Dad, Ryan Byrne as well as Rusty Clunie and his late son, Max Clunie.

One month from today, Rusty and his wife Sharon’s daughter, Meghan is getting married to Tanner in both families hometown of Prince Albert, SK.

Between now and then, Tanner has got a full schedule of riding bulls in the PBR as the break finishes up in about two weeks as the Built Ford Tough Series resumes in Tulsa, OK. The same place Byrne made his BFS debut. This year that’s a different story.

“My goal at the start of the year was to make the World Finals since I wasn’t on tour at the time,” said Byrne. “Now since I’m there it’s to win the rookie of the world, be in the top ten at the end of the year and win a world title.”

Added to that 87.5 on Bad Mamma Jammer, his 82.5 on a re-ride meant 170 points on two bulls for the win. That wasn’t all though as Tanner was drawn back to the short go on a re-entry to face a bull he had won on before, Krack Back Jack from the Girletz’s.

86 points was the result there for second place as well as first. The top score earned Byrne another $1,000 bonus.

Last year’s Champion, Jesse Torkelson looked like he might repeat after his long go-winning 84.5 on Vitalix. Unfortunately after a buck off in the short go that wouldn’t be the case.

His $100,000 richer travelling partner Scott Schiffner took a nasty hit from Bucking Fantastic in what was the wreck of the night.

Top Bull of the night went to another Two Bit Bucking Bull, this one who’s also been to the PBR’s World Finals, Bringing Sexy Back with a score of 44.5 points.

Thanks to Andy Robertson and his family for another great event in Manor. We look forward to coming back once again in 2015!
