Prince Albert, SK: There were some more great rides tonight in Prince Albert, SK. The final night of the first year of the Clunie-Cooper Memorial kicked off at 7:30pm.
With Chad Besplug in the lead with only one score at 86 points form night one. He was one of the first to ride in the long round tonight and started things off well:
Not long after, Saskatchewan’s Own, Aaron Roy took on the bull that Chad Besplug was leading the event on from last night:
Ty Pozzobon rode the Girletz bull Final Legacy:
Manitoba Native Zane Lambert took on the Vold bull Smoke and a Pancake:
At the end of the long go after two re rides, on his third bull of the night, young gun Garrett Green scratched out this ride on the Girletz bull Diego to make his way back into the short round in 3rd place:
Short Go
As like the first night, there weren’t many rides in the Short Go. The bull power was outstanding once again due to the top contractors in Canada all being present.
Ty Pozzobon took on the Wild Hoggs Bull South of Heaven and nearly made the whistle:
Even though Aaron Roy had already won the event, it all came down to this final ride on the Calgary Stampede bull Pawn Star, and it was outstanding.
After the event, I had the chance to catch up with Aaron, unfortunately the sound didn’t work on the interview. What Aaron said though was that he had been on Pawn Star before. It was at the Calgary Stampede in 2010. He was actually one of the first bull riders to ever get on him. Aaron bucked off Pawn Star that day and it cost him a shot at $100,000.
Even though this one didn’t really mean more money, it meant revenge. And he sure got it this time to the tune of 91.5 points.
Here’s how the cash was paid out:
- Aaron Roy 178.5 pts $6,426
- Ty Pozzobon 86.5 pts $4,641
- Chad Besplug 86 pts $2,321
- Garrett Green 86 pts $2,321
- Zane Lambert 85 pts $857
- Zane Lambert 84.5 pts $571
Wasn’t it a 90.5 on his last ride?
After the rec-counted the scores it ended up being a 91.5!
