Ponoka, AB: Last year the 10th Annual Jace Harty Memorial Bull Riding was at it’s finest. There weren’t many things that could make it better. It’s about to get a whole lot better this year.
In 2013, the Ponoka Stampede and the Jace Harty Memorial Bull Riding Committee have joined forces to up the prize money to $40,000 and have the event open this year’s Ponoka Stampede.
It will be on June 24th in the evening. The exact time is not yet set but on the way. It does change the time of the Canadian Bucking Bulls Inc. Sale up to 1:00pm rather than later when it was first planned.
“This is going to be the biggest bull riding in Canada.” Nansen Vold told by email this morning. “We are hoping to attract a bunch of big name bull riders. With twelve contractors it’s going to ensure the best stock is available. This is very exciting news.”
Sanctioned by the PBR in Canada, the added money here nearly rivals that of the finals at $70,000 and is the biggest event on the schedule thus far.
Stay tuned for more details as they unfold.
