SASKATOON, Saskatchewan — The tenth edition of the PBR Canadian Finals is just a few short days away from taking over the Sasktel Center.

Canada’s top bull riders compete against the top bulls for a payout of $40,000 over the two days of competition. Aaron Roy made his return to the sport of bull riding at this event last year and won the event in one of the greatest comebacks the sport has ever seen in Canada.

Friday’s event also features wild pony racing and the $2,500 Boulet Boots Grudge Match between the top two bull riders on the night. Saturday is Scott Byrne’s final performance anywhere as a bullfighter.

Tickets are still available but going fast. Get yours HERE.

Until Friday, here are a few of my picks for round one.

Dakota Buttar vs. 213 Jesus and Bocephus – Coming off his second consecutive Canadian Championship in the rodeo world, Buttar didn’t draw the easiest to kick off the PBR Canadian Finals. I’ve seen this bull a few times and he’s been outstanding in all of them, yet to be ridden.

Nathan Schaper vs. 818 Morning Breath – Two men from North Dakota finished in the top to in the PBR this season. One was 2014 PBR Canada Champ Stetson Lawrence who was 9th and the other was Nathan Schaper. Before Nathan ever went to the Built Ford Tough Series, he started up here in Canada. Saskatoon is one of the events closer to home than most for these two and Morning Breath is a bull that’s met Schaper before. That was in Coronation, AB in 2013 and 818 from the Wild Hoggs won. My money is on the North Dakota man this time around even if this bull has yet to be ridden in 2015.

Jared Parsonage vs. 724 Dakota Joe – Parsonage was in the hunt for a Canadian Championship nearly until the end this past week at the CFR. He rode great and showed up huge in his first full season. Dakota Joe is a great draw for anyone. The Outlaw Buckers bull has been ridden three times according to the stats, all for 86 or more.

Aaron Roy vs. 962 Wanderlust – As mentioned earlier, Roy won this event last year in what was his return to the sport after 16 months off. This past season he finished 27th in the World and has won $87,000 American since this time last year. Wanderlust is the perfect draw for round one for Roy to defend his finals event title in Saskatoon.

Zane Lambert vs. 180 Whiskey Throttle – Many of us were disappointed to see Zane not win the CFR this past week and his first Canadian Championship in rodeo. What we were happy to see was how well he did in Edmonton, bringing home over $45,000 in earnings. On the four bulls Lambert rode that’s $1,4000 per second. Whiskey Throttle from the Eno’s is a bucker we’ve seen around for the past few years. Away from Zane’s hand, he could be one of the guys in that Boulet Boots Grudge Match at the end of the night.

Tanner Byrne vs. L5 Mouse – These two are meeting again in what’s a rematch from this past summer’s Wade Redden PBR Challenge in Hillmond, SK. There, as you can see below, Byrne won the battle for an 84.5. The Prince Albert, SK man finished 8th in the entire PBR this year having amassed $230,900 in earnings. Again that’s USD, add another 30% to convert it to CDN. Byrne had the best finish ever by a Canadian at the PBR’s World Finals, leaving in third place. This week he can put the finishing touches on his first ever PBR Canadian title too. Look for much of the same of this on Friday:
