Prince Albert, SK: Stetson Lawrence of Williston, ND leads after night one of the Clunie-Cooper Memorial PBR at the Art Hauser Center. Lawrence spurred his way to an 89 point score on the Wild Hoggs Bull 90 Chances Are.
With no qualified scores being recorded in the championship round, all a rider needs to do tomorrow to get past Lawrence is put two together. With the event format as it is, a rider could win first and second places. Over two days this event still counts as one bull riding.
Stetson had this to say after the event.
In second on the night was Zane Lambert with a huge effort on the Vold Bull 806 Cold & Empty for an 86.
Coming back off an injury just in time for his hometown event, Tanner Byrne hung on to the Calgary Stampede’s 703 Gingas Kong for an 85.5 to sit in third after night one.
Nanton Alberta Cowboy, Ty Elliot took on Vold’s 825 Feeling Blue for an 84.5 for fourth tonight.
Rounding out the top five was Built Ford Tough Series man Ty Pozzobon of Merritt, BC with 84 points on Vold’s 33 Turn Me Down which was a re-ride after he wasn’t able to get out on his first bull.
The bull of the night in my opinion was the Calgary Stampede’s 819 Man in Black with this trip up against Dusty Ephrom.
The event wraps up tomorrow night beginning at 7:30pm featuring superstar bull, Vold’s 400 VJV Slash and a crowning of the event champion.
In addition, the eighth edition of the PBR Canadian National Finals has been set for October 18th and 19th, 2013 in Saskatoon, SK.
