SASKATOON, SK (October 19th, 2013) — After eight seasons of finishing inside the top ten and a number of bridesmaid finishes, Ponoka’s Zane Lambert has finally claimed his first PBR Canadian Championship. Lambert lead the entire season, earning 23 top ten finishes and five event wins, en route to the title. Despite going one for three this weekend he earned $1,870.00 at the PBR Canadian Finals.

2006 PBR Canadian Champion Scott Schiffner scored 175 points on two bulls on his way to the 2013 PBR Canadian Finals event title. Schiffner’s 89.5 on Stupid Trent was the highest score of the championship round and entire event. For his efforts, Scott won $9,817.50, more so, he drives himself home a brand new Ford F-150 courtesy of the 2013 SIGA 3D Bullriding Tour.

Coming in third at the event and second on the season was Saskatchewan’s own Tanner Byrne. With a score of 171.5 on two bulls, Byrne took home $3,867.50 on the weekend. His highest score of the weekend came tonight on China White with an 86.

Despite Australia leading after night one, Canada made the most of night two as yet another Canuck, Tanner Girletz took home fourth place here at the Credit Union Center with 170.5 points on two bulls. Girletz was 87 on Wild Hoggs’ Trendon to make the only other qualified ride in the Championship Round.

Rounding out the top five was Montana’s Jory Markiss. As the winner in round two, he went into the finals in the third spot. Unfortunately for him, he grabbed his wrap at 7.9 seconds to be disqualified in the last round of competition which would have gave him the win. Markiss leaves Saskatoon $4,632.50 richer on his way to Las Vegas for the PBR World Finals tomorrow which start on Wednesday.

PBR Canada Stock Contractor of the Year, Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls, took home yet another title, winning Bull of the Finals with their Bull of the Year, Pound the Alarm facing Jesse Torkelson tonight.

Vold Rodeo’s superstar four time PBR World Finalist 400 VJV Slash made his final appearance in a PBR Canada Arena tonight as the last bull out in the Championship Round facing off against Jared Farley putting him on the ground.
