Nipawin, SK: In front of a capacity crowd at the Centennial Arena, Australian Cowboy Josh Birks rode his way to tonight’s first ever Nipawin RONA PBR Championship. With scores of 86.5 and 90.5, Birks picks up over $3,000 in prize money for his efforts.
In the Championship Round, Birks rode the Wild Hoggs Bull Pound the Alarm for a 90.5.
Josh was happy for us to talk again after not catching up since January in Brooks, AB.
Tanner Byrne finished second in Nipawin with scores of 82 in the long go and this 86 on the Wild Hoggs Bull 818 Morning Breath.
In third it was Jordan Hansen putting two scores together to pick up a good check. Ty Elliot was drawn back to the short go but rode yet another Wild Hoggs bull, 81 Axis of Evil for an 86.5 to finish the event fourth overall.
Ty Patten rounded out the top five with an 83 on the Calgary Stampede’s 803 Edgar.
Chris Hansen’s bull First Buckle was very impressive this evening, likely putting up one of the top if not the top bull score of the evening while throwing off Cody Coverchuk.
In the Junior Bull Riding tonight it was Cawl Braithwaite for the win on a young Wild Hoggs Bull for 78.5 points.
