SASKATOON, Saskatchewan — Aaron Roy’s return to the sport of professional bull riding is umber four on the Everything Cowboy Biggest Moments of 2014 countdown brought to you by 3D Bull Riding Inc.

After Roy’s wreck in July of 2013, it wasn’t a matter of if he would ride again, it was more a matter of if he would walk again.

Back on his feet in a few days, Roy prevailed against the odds even with two rods and eight screws in his back.

16 months later and hundreds if not thousands of hours of rehab and Aaron Roy made his way back to the elite levels of his sport last month in Saskatoon.

Roy Returned in fine fashion by winning the PBR Canada Finals at the Sasktel Center in front of a record crowd for the event.

Personally, the moments during and after this ride below had more energy than any live sporting event I’ve ever been to in my life. The only thing comparable was being at the PBR’s World Finals when J.B. Mauney won the world title in 2013. There were an extra seven or eight thousand people in Vegas too. All the fans in Saskatoon made up for things by standing up on their feet and cheering as loud as they could. I know it’s happened before in Canada but that’s the first time I’ve seen anything like that in the sport of bull riding in our country at that scale.

With five events to his credit on the PBR’s Built Ford Tough Series due to an injury exemption, Roy plans to be back on tour in February.

He’s not worried about the outcome either, from here out being back is nothing short of amazing.

“Whatever happens, happens,” Roy said.
