PRCA World Champs of 2012

Las Vegas, NV: After ten gruelling days at the biggest and best rodeo in the entire world, and after 365 days of competition through over 550 sanctioned PRCA Rodeos, it all came down to one night. It almost every event tonight it came down to that final night of the entire season to decide who would be the champions. It’s amazing it can be so close after such a long season.

Easily the best story of the week is Mary Walker and her first WNFR appearance and now first WPRA World Championship. If you can’t hear it at the end, that’s her surgeon who came in to congratulate her.

If you don’t get to watch the interview, Mary had this to say on winning the Gold Buckle. “I”m overwhelmed, just so excited. It’s the most amazing thing in my life. (There were) a lot of emotions going on. I was really upset that Reagon wasn’t here with me to celebrate, but I know he is in spirit.”

Lindsay Sears finished just outside the money tonight riding Mo, but considering the start of her week, she still made it out of Vegas with $53,741. That pushed her total to $190,062 on the year which was fourth best overall.

Jesse Wright rodeo Wayne Vold Rodeo’s Pedro for a score of 80.5. Any less and he wouldn’t have been the World Champion.

Calgary Stampede’s Special Delivery, the 2012 CPRA Bareback Horse of the Year, won the Wrangler Award as the Bareback Horse of the Night in Round Ten.

Come back for more tomorrow.
