HANNA, Alberta — It all comes down to a Sunday afternoon in a hockey arena in a quiet little Alberta farm town. The NFR hopes of Pincher Creek bronc rider Dustin Flundra hang in the balance as he gets set to climb aboard Bar C5’s Red Tide at the Hanna Pro Rodeo.

After cashing in at the American Royal Pro Rodeo in Kansas City for $1272, Flundra now finds himself inside of a thousand dollars of fifteenth spot in the PRCA World Standings and a coveted Wrangler NFR qualification. The Alberta cowboy, having missed a chance at the Dallas Sunstrum Memorial Pro Rodeo in Brooks, AB on Friday, will need to bank $556.82 at Hanna to get ahead of Utah’s Jake Wright, currently in fifteenth place.

It will be an exciting day as the race for the final playoff spot will find Flundra going head-to-head against the current number fourteen man, Troy Crowser, in the Hanna Sportsplex. Crowser is ahead of Flundra by only $610.40. With a score of 80 points currently in the lead in Hanna and a couple 76’s in second, the opportunity is there.

Fingers are crossed to see Flundra join steer wrestler Curtis Cassidy and bareback rider Jake Vold as the Canadian contingent heading to Vegas in December.
