Tenth Round Features Eight Canadian Bucking Horses

Las Vegas, NV: It’s going to be some good watching tonight! Leave your comment below to leave your thoughts.

Bareback

Justin McDaniel vs. C5 Rodeo’s Make Up Face – Make Up Face really bucked and threw off Steven Dent in Round Five. Justin McDaniel has picked away a bit so far this week. This big blue horse will be a hand full but has been known to get some guys some 90 point scores.

Brian Bain vs. Calgary Stampede’s Special Delivery – As the Bareback Horse of the Year in the CPRA this year, it’ll be a great matchup. Keith Marrington said that he thinks this horse has the ability to finish as one of the top three bareback horse in the World. Brian hasn’t won a ton yet this week so he will be looking to get a big score. He’s got the horse to do it on.

Caleb Bennett vs. Calgary Stampede’s Stampede Warrior – This six year old was the Bareback Horse of the Calgary Stampede last year as a five year old. With the caliber of horses there in Calgary, that’s impressive. Really, really bucked in Round Five throwing off Jared Keylon winning the Wrangler Award as the Bareback Horse of the Night. Caleb will have his hands full but has the opportunity to win.

Steven Dent vs. Kesler Rodeo’s Street Dance – Like Duane Kesler said when she won the Bucking Horse of the CFR award this year, she’s one you can be 90 on every time. She’s an eight time CFR and NFR qualifying horse that’s 14 years old and buckskin in colour. JR Vezain was 84.5 on her the first time around and that could very well happen with Steven too.

Wayne Vold Rodeo’s Centennial and Calgary Stampede’s Princess Warrior are both in the re-ride pen.

Saddle Bronc

Cody Taton vs. Calgary Stampede’s Shoshone Mountain –  Threw off Sterling Crawley in the fifth round pretty handily. A month ago this horse was named the Saddle Bronc of the CFR. He’s a fourth generation champion bucking horse out of the likes of Cindy Rocket, Turtle Mountain and Fuming Rocket. Cody Taton has won just over $15,000 so far at this year’s NFR and has a horse to win the round on.

Tyrell Smith vs. Calgary Stampede’s Lynx Mountain – This nine year old mare has been in the tenth round for the last two years. Also a CPRA Saddle Bronc Horse of the Year and half sisted to Shoshone Mountain. Lots has been won on her and lots can be won on her tonight if Tyrell Smith does things right.

Jake Wright vs. Wayn Vold Rodeo’s Eclypce – It’s quite fitting that the twin Wright brothers are getting on Wayne Vold horses tonight. Jake will be looking to get a score on Eclypce where his brother Cody wasn’t able to in Round Five. Wayne Vold raised this big eight year old pinto that was also here last year at the NFR. My prediction is that Jake gets a big score tonight.

Jesse Wright vs. Wayne Vold Rodeo’s Pedro – Pedro threw off Chad Ferley in Rond Five. It was looking like they would be a bunch of points together. This is Pedro’s second time to the NFR and it won’t be his last either. It’s going to all come down to this one ride as Jesse likely needs to get to the whistle to win the gold buckle. With the caliber of horse and rider we’ve got here I think Jesse spurs Pedro to a 90 point score and the crowd goes completely wild, including everyone back home too.

Bull Riding

Calgary Stampede’s Beaver is in the re-ride pen. They gave Cody Whitney a re-ride on Beaver the first time around because of a foul at the gate. It’s not likely they will get to him but it would be cool to see him go again if they did since it didn’t workout well the first time around.
