Round Seven Match-Ups for the Wrangler NFR

Las Vegas, NV: We are getting closer and closer to crowning our 2012 PRCA World Champions. With four rounds to go it’s getting more and more exciting each evening at the Thomas & Mack Center. This is a bit more on some of tonight’s match-ups on the Canadian bucking horses.

Bareback

108 Brian Bain, Culver, Ore. 123 Loadstone Jade Calgary Stampede – After hitting the re-ride pen the first time around, this will be Loadstone Jade’s first trip of the 2012 NFR. The big black gelding can do some yanking on a guys arm according to Calgary Stampede Ranch Manager Raymond Goodman. He also said they were 88 on him in Puyallup, WA this past fall. Brian Bain sits eighth in the average and has won over $18,000 thus far. This horse will give him a shot to win that much more tonight alone.

Saddle Bronc

86 Cole Elshere, Faith, S.D. 225 Mad Money Calgary Stampede
– Wade Sundell was part of a three way split for first in Round Two with 84.5 on Mad Money. This ten year old mare has been here to the NFR in both the Saddle Bronc and Bareback. Will Lowe actually won the $100,000 on her in Calgary a few years back. They also hold the Ellensburg arena record on her too. Raymond Goodman told earlier in the week that all the “money” named horses including Knife Money, Labelled Money and Day Money have moved to broncs after starting off in the Bareback. After a $28,000 week thus far and a round win for Cole, this will be another chance for him to up his numbers.

18 Wade Sundell, Boxholm, Iowa 257 Charlie Horse Harvey Northcott Rodeo – Charlie Horse is a five year old brown that’s been to the CFR now twice with this being his first NFR appearance. Tyler Corrington won a round on Charlie Horse at the CFR this year and Chet Johnson won a round at the Calgary Stampede on him too. Wade has won just under $50,000 thus far this week and sits $25,000 behind first place Jesse Wright in the World Championship Race. The kicker there is that Wade sits second in the average where Jesse is seventh. That could make the difference, tonight should make things go further in Wade’s direction.

67 Cody Taton, Corona, N.M. 264 Navajo Sun Kesler Rodeo – Navajo Sun is a buckskin mare in her first trip to the NFR. She threw off Jesse Wright in the first round and it might end up costing him. Cody Taton has got a check so far for $7,656 but can make a lot more if he rides this one tonight.

56 Cody Wright, Milford, Utah 258 Dark Side Harvey Northcott Rodeo – Dark Side is a five year old black stud raised on the Northcott Ranch out of the famous Wyatt Earp. Ace Northcott said earlier this week that he’s a pretty new horse but they won a lot of money on him this year. Cody Wright has already won $35,000 this week and sits third in the average and should get along great with this horse.
