CALDWELL, Idaho –Aug. 15, 2014 – Rodeo action will conclude at the Caldwell Night Rodeo on Saturday and several contestants that were here Fridaynight are now staying over and hoping to leave town with a championship.

Nancy Hunter remains in the lead in the women’s barrel race, but six women that made their second runs here on Friday are going to try to overtake her tomorrow. The fastest time of the night went to Taylor Jacob from Carmine, Texas who won the first round. Jacob stopped the clock in 17.19 seconds and has a total time of 34.52, five-hundredths of a second slower than Hunter.

World standings leader Kali Bass from Kissimmee, Fla., reigning world champion Sherry Cervi from Marana, Ariz., and Wrangler National Finals Rodeo qualifier Michele McLeod from Whitesboro, Texas, also are in contention for championships.

The local crowd got noisy when Brady Portenier rode for eight-seconds in the bull riding. Portenier calls Caldwell home and became the third rider from the rodeo to get a score. His 71-point ride on Powder River Rodeo’s Captain America earned him $2,383 and he will be a fan favorite at during the final round.
