Alberta High School Rodeo 2012 Champions

Ponoka, AB: The 2012 Alberta High School Finals Rodeo wrapped up this afternoon at the Ponoka Stampede grounds. It was a bit windy and rainy today but that didn’t phase any of the contestants one bit.

Highlighting the weekend had to be Cawl Braithwaite making two matching 86 point bull rides to win the Finals Bull Riding Title. Check out his rides at the end of the story.

Congratulations to all of those contestants making their way to the National Finals in Rock Springs, WY this July as well as the Silver State International Rodeo in Winnemuca, NV in a couple weeks along with the Canadian High School Finals in Virden, MB in early August.

All of this year’s champions will be ones to watch in the future! It’s great to see what high school rodeo does for our sport. I know I sure wouldn’t be where I am today without being a part of it when I was growing up.

Best of luck to everyone this summer at all of the different finals as well as all the other events you’ll be going to.

Congratulations to all of this year’s graduates as well. We look forward to seeing your careers as they go from here.
