PASADENA, Texas — A win at Friday night’s Finale for the 2016 Wrangler Champions Challenge clinched Jake Vold of Ponoka, AB his second trip to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.

The win was worth $5,304 moving him up past the $73,000 mark on the season.

Team ropers Levi Simpson and Jeremy Buhler took fourth in the team roping for $2,028. The pair look to become the first all Canadian team roping pair to qualify for the WNFR. Buhler is now ahead of 16th by $16,000 while Simpson is safe by over $5,000.

Four other Canadians, Orin Larsen, Zeke Thurston, Clay Elliott and Jake Watson rank inside the top 15 in their respective events at this time. Watson is ahead of 16th by $260 with one rodeo to go in Hanna, AB. Clayton Moore and Layton Green have ground to make up to make their first WNFR appearances.
