TNT’s Picks – Teepee Creek, AB PBR Classic

TEEPEE CREEK, Alberta — Since Tyler Thomson “TNT” retired, I deleted that song from my computer, he said the other day he doesn’t really ever want to hear it again.

The great news for all of us is that Tyler may have retired from the competition side of bull riding but he’s still around as a stock contractor, pick up man and family hand. Chad Besplug had the thought that Tyler should do the picks this week and I’m glad he mentioned it, read below and see for yourself.

Covy Moore went 4/5 with his picks on Saturday in Lethbridge and I was only 1/5 on Friday, there’s a chance to take the lead!

Good work Tyler, see you all in Teepee Creek on Saturday for the PBR. If you don’t have tickets yet, get them HERE.

Lonnie West vs. 404 Brightside – I can’t remember what hand Lonnie West rides with because it doesn’t seem to matter which way they go to him. He’s a kid that can ride anything you throw at him. Drawing a rising three year-old of mine that has been pretty impressive, spins to the left in the door and doesn’t stand a chance against West. Look for an 84 or 85, a solid long round score.

Justin Lloyd vs. 439 Star Dust – Justin has also drawn into our pen and probably got the nicest one. Star Dust is a little blue muley that will be down the gate and around to the right with a little push back. I really like Justin and the way he rides, he shows signs of greatness, that being said he needs to start riding more consistently to become great. This bull will fit him and he can start that right here.

Garrett Green vs. 122 True Colors – Garrett has one of Outlaw Buckers called True Colours. I’ve never actually seen this bull but I talked to Garrett and he sounded like he liked him. The bull should turn back to the right that’s into his hand and he is as good as anyone in Canada that way. He is riding very well coming off a win at Chad’s Claresholm event with an impressive 91 point score. Look for him to challenge for a repeat win early in the season.

Scott Schiffner vs. 9-327 Shadow Recruit – Scott tries to act modest but I know he’d be mad if I’m doing the picks this week and didn’t talk about him so… Scott is a guy that just keeps bringing it. He has Shadow Recruit of X6. This bull looked really good last weekend in Lethbridge, he really got it right in the door to the right. Scott can get it done (probably not as well as recently retired Chad Besplug or myself could) but I think he will for the long round win!

Brock Radford vs. -204 Chump – Last pick for me is probably the easiest. My man Brock has a bull called Chump of Big Chief Buckers. I talked to Al Lively and he said this bull is a borderline short round bull. He has had a couple off days and that’s why Chump is still in the long round. Brock had his breakout year last year and it wasn’t by fluke, he looks to me to be getting better every time he nods his head. I think as soon as Brock settles down and realizes how good he is he’s going to be a contender and not just on the Canadian stage! I look for Brock to match moves with Chump and be near the top of the leader board headed into the short round.
