LAS VEGAS, Nevada — A pair of Canadians won in Round 6 of the Wrangler NFR on Tuesday night in Las Vegas.

Big Valley’s Zeke Thurston won his second round ever at the Wrangler NFR in Round 6, splitting it with Cort Scheer at 89.5 points.

“The horses are so awesome now and everyone rides so good that you can’t count on the rest of the field to make mistakes. You have to just worry about what you have control of,” Thurston said of Miss Chestnut.

“You just keep to the basics. Like my dad says, dance with the ones that brought you here. If you are here, you have proven yourself already.”

For the win, he earned $23,481.

“It’s a lot of fun, and with the best 15 guys and the best 15 horses, you have to do something to set yourself apart. And Cort has won like all the rounds to far, so I had to at least be co-winner,” Thurston said.

“I don’t want to be greedy – oh wait, yes I do,” Scheer jokingly chimed in.

Donalda, Alberta’s Curtis Cassidy won his second round of the week to increase his lead in the steer wrestling world standings. Cassidy also won Round 4 with the same time, a 3.6. So far this week he’s up past the $78,000 mark in earnings and remains No. 1 in the World Standings.

Rounding out Canada’s earnings in Round 6 were Scott Guenthner who split sixth with a time of 4.5 seconds for $2,115.

Round 7 of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo takes place on Wednesday December 12th, 2018 at the Thomas & Mack Centre starting at 6:45pm Pacific. To follow along, watch live at, listen live at Live scoring is also available courtesy of
