Six Canadians to compete in Rodeo Houston Finals

HOUSTON, Texas — Six Canadians have qualified for Saturday’s Rodeo Houston finals through preliminary competition at NRG Stadium.

On Wednesday night, Jake Vold and Layton Green advanced to the finals thanks to a win for Vold worth $3,000 and third place finish for Green which earned him $875. In the second semifinals, Tyrel Larsen and Jake Watson punched their tickets to the chance at the big paydays. Watson won the round with a big 86 point effort on Thursday night adding $2,500 bringing his total to $4,500 so far. Larsen picked up another $1,000 setting him at $5,000 heading into Saturday.

A pair of wild card wins sends Clay Elliott and Orin Larsen to Saturday’s showdown. Coincidentally, both Canucks rode Calgary Stampede bucking horses for the wins, each worth $3,000. Elliott put up 85 points on Urgent Delivery while Larsen was a solid 87 on Soap Bubbles. Both men head into the finals with $6,375 in the Wranglers to date.

Not advancing to the final round of competition were the following, Schmidt and Milan were out with no times however Nancy Csabay was fourth, two spots and a few hundreths of seconds off. Cody Cassidy was a few tenths back of a spot in the finals and Luke Butterfield was four points out.
