OYEN, Alberta — Garrett Green (Meeting Creek, Alberta) won the 20th edition of the White Lightning Pro Cowboy Crunch at RCMP Centennial Park in Oyen on Wednesday night.
Green, the No. 6 man in the Canadian Pro Rodeo Association (CPRA) standings, rode Private Ryan (Girletz Rodeo Stock) for 83.5 points and third place in Round 1. In the Championship Round, Green became the second man to ride Hanna Motors Two Point Oh (Skori Bucking Bulls) for 87 points.
For his work he earned $3,480.42 which moves him up to the No. 4 spot in the CPRA standings.
Second in Oyen was Manitoba’s Kane Larsen. Kane, brother of WNFR Qualifiers Tyrel and Orin Larsen, rode Radioactive (X6 Ranch) for 82 points in Round 1 and followed it up with an 86 on Pop The Latch (Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls) in the Championship Round.
Wednesday marks the youngest Larsen brother’s biggest win of the season for $2,694.22 potentially bumping him up into the Top 20 in the CPRA Standings.
Brazil’s Marcos Gloria, now making his home in Edmonton, Alberta was third in Oyen. Gloria, also the Calgary Stampede’s $100,000 champion, made the highest scored ride of the night at 89 points on Muddy Water (X6 Ranch) in the Championship Round. His 76-point effort in Round 1 didn’t pay as well as the same score did for him on Sunday in Cowtown.
For his work, he takes home $2,273.54 and jumps inside the Top 10 in the CPRA.
Two-time PBR Canada Champion Zane Lambert (Ponoka, Alberta) came in No. 4 in Oyen. Lambert rode Broken Trigger (Skori Bucking Bulls) to win Round 1 with 86 points but was bucked off Spit ‘N Image (Sawyer Pro Rodeos) in the Championship Round.
Rounding out the Top 5 was rookie Nick Tetz (Calgary, Alberta) courtesy of his 84.5 points on Raise a Ruckus (Vold Rodeo) in Round 1. Tetz was bucked off Moves Like Pozzy (Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls) in the Championship Round but earned $1,934, thus moving into the CPRA’s Top 15.
The Top 12 bull riders in the CPRA standings qualify for the Canadian Finals Rodeo in Red Deer, Alberta taking place from October 30th to November 4th, 2018 at Westerner Park.
A second 2018 Calgary Stampede Champion in attendance on Wednesday, Jett Lambert (Grande Prairie, Alberta) won the Ty Pozzobon Memorial Steer Riding event with a score of 82 points to win $1,241.60.
