REGINA, SK – The Canadian Cowboys Association (CCA) has released their tentative 2017 rodeo schedule.
Following a successful CCA Finals Rodeo in Swift Current, the CCA has announced their 2017 schedule kicking off in Tisdale, Saskatchewan on April. 7th and 8th. The 2017 schedule boasts 50 approved rodeos totalling nearly 110 performances.
“Our first finals in Swift Current were a success,” said CCA President Kevin Larson. “The 2017 season is shaping up to be our best yet with the addition of some new rodeos and continually increasing prize money for contestants.”
The popular Peavey Mart Tour is returning in 2017 with the top competitors from east and west tours earning a spot at the CCA Finals Rodeo. Timed event competitors will have to enter and compete at 12 tour rodeos to qualify, roughstock competitors must enter and attend 10 tour rodeos. The CCA is also excited to announce rodeos returning to the schedule in 2017. Edam rodeo is returning in the fall after a year hiatus. The CCA is also happy to announce that Maple Creek has partnered with the CCA to bring you two performances of rodeo this summer; this will be the first CCA rodeo in Maple Creek in over 15 years.
The 2017 CCA Finals Rodeo runs from Oct. 18-21 in Swift Current Saskatchewan. To qualify for the finals timed event contestants must compete in at least 15 CCA lead rodeos, 10 for roughstock competitors. The 2016 Finals paid over $150,000 in prize money as well as trophy saddles and buckles making it the highest paying semi-professional rodeo finals in Canada.
