1. Three World Champs and a million bucks

LAS VEGAS, Nevada — I think it was pretty easy to guess that this was number one this year…

How could the biggest, greatest, most prestigious, richest day in Canadian rodeo history not be number one in 2016?

There is still lots to talk about with Levi Simpson, Jeremy Buhler and Zeke Thurston as they get acclimated to being World Champions. Stay tuned for more with these guys in the coming months and follow along as they chase down the next title.

Those three weren’t out-done by the other five qualifiers to the WNFR for 2016 in reserve World Champion Bareback Rider Jake Vold, Orin Larsen, Kolton Schmidt, reserve WNFR Aggregate Champion Jake Watson and Clay Elliott.

I wanted to do a recap at the end of the week thanking everyone and taking it all in. I didn’t thank Wrangler yet for having me at the finals yet to be a part of it all with the Wrangler Network. I appreciate you all for having me and I’m glad I was one of the first people to congratulate our new Canadian World Champions. Thank you to everyone who came out to the party last week at Ranchman’s.

I didn’t have much else to say though after Covy Moore told the story from Vegas in photos afterwards. If you haven’t seen his story yet check it out. You might cry too like I did.

I’m so proud to be Canadian, not just this year but all day every day. Congratulations again to you three and all of our qualifiers this year. A million bucks between them and the top finishes in years in most all events. It’s going to be tough to ever top that again, but I think it can be done…

Thank you for following along with this year’s countdown, here’s to a great 2017 for everyone!
